Prior to this trip I had never seen a puku. They are found in South Luangwa NP and apparently some in northern Chobe in Botswana. The alarm call they make is almost like a whistle. We found this guy on a morning walk.

Of the same family as the Reedbuck and Lechwe, the Puku is another of the pretty antelopes. Lovely shot Nicole, he stands out beautifully against the grasses. 8) :D

Very nice comp. Excellent portrait and the grasses really make him stand out. I think the image is even stronger with the dark part of the BG cropped out. Thanks for sharing.

The light and BG work very well with this beautiful animal. 8) Very nice!

As a matter of personal taste, I try to avoid having the entire animal 90 degrees to the camera. In this case, it obscures one of the horns. But generally speaking I think it makes the image look too much like a police mug shot. Silohoutes would be one obvious case where a profile can work very well.

Excellent shot. Would consider cropping the dark top.
