Beautiful, calm scene. The exposure is perfect! Did you use a GND, or maybe merged exposures? I'm surprised at the perfect exposure of the dark trees, given what appears to be a bright sky.

Very well done.

Nope its a single shot - the 1Ds Mark II has about 9 stops from white to black.

9 stops?!?!? Wow, that's absolutely incredible - this almost makes GND filters obsolete!

What's the typical digital camera's range? About 5.5 stops? That's an huge difference!

Man, it's too bad that the 1Ds MkII is completely out of my price range, as it must be one awesome camera to use.

Thanks for the info, E.J.

Several tests using a gray card on the1Ds shows that from solid white to solid black is 9 stops, the Fuji is closer to 11 but the useable range is probably a stop less than that on each camera as that last half stop or so on either end is so close in numeric value to the final 0,0,0 or 255, 255, 255 outcome for black and white. Still about twice as much as Velvia and 1.5 times as much as Astia but shy of print film capability.

Classically beautiful. Love the use of the sweep of the tree line.
