I made this image at Shenandoah National Park while chasing the whitetail deer fawns around.
EOS-1DS, 1/100 sec, f/5.6, ISO 200, 500mm f/4 IS lens.
Not my usual macro gear :)

I like this a lot Wil. Good composition and colours. Your long focal length has come into it's own. Did you see any deer?!

Absolutely beautiful, the red color stands perfectly over the green BG.
I love it!

Beautiful selective focus on the flower and a real-looking setting. Nice soft light.

Nice one, Wil!!! Your decision to include the foreground weeds adds a lot of interest to the shot.

Lovely shot of a very interesting flower.
I especially like the sort of cluster of in focus material that the flower stands above and almost looks down on.
If I could change one thing it would be the out of focus leaf, fern leaf?, that sits behind the main stem.
Again lovely shot with the real mood of being in the fields in late spring or early summer.

Wil,
Very nice image of this wildflower. Nice to see you found an image that was not dancing in the breeze. Always like the relationship of the plant and the environment.

Beautiful image! Since the stem begins fairly close to the left side of the image, I think I would have cropped more off the right side so that the blossom is closer to the right side. I think it would balance it better. Just a minor nit. I really like the image. Thanks for sharing.
