Legless Lizard, or Glass Lizard. Ophiosaurus Species

Was outside today to clean up the brick patio that I had left some daylily foliage on, and to do some early deadheading of the flowers.
My son's were helping me out, when Joseph suddenly (and loudly) hollered out, ..... "cool"!
This little guy was moving about the foliage left the day before, and moving in and around the flowers that I had thrown on top of the foliage.
I told the boys to keep him cornered, went and got the camera, and got a few shots of him. He was very hard to keep up with!
I did take numerous shots of him flicking his tongue out, ......... or so I thought!!!

I have some shots that I may post later of him holding his head up while in the grass which was pretty cool, but this one seemed a bit different and one that you never see them in, ....... with a flower that is.
I think a pinch more depth would have been nice and especially on the nose area, but hey, ........ blame it on sweat in the eyes!!!

Edit: Thought I would post this to show just how long this lizard is.
Joseph said I could take a shot of him, and that I had better do it "before I get those braces on daddy"! :)
This particular lizard was about 12-14 inches long.

Thanks for looking gang!

Wonderful shot, Michael!

By that smile, it looks like your son is about to show this creature to his mom, and he know what's going to happen...

Hi Michael
I think you son got it spot on, one very quote “cool” image. Although I agree with your self critique, the uniqueness of the shot certainly overcomes any small nits. Wonderful shot and I am very glad both of you had such fun together, just makes it all the more special.

Thanks for sharing
Matthew

The shot of the lizard in the flower is absolutely gorgeous. No nits on that at all, not even about DOF. It's very special and unlike anything I've ever seen. Perfect expression, colour and composition too!

I like the second image too, but I do hope that handling the little fellow didn't cause it too much stress...

Very cool! I've only seen these in zoos or herp collections. The shot has a lot of visual impact.
I guess it pays to have a diligent scout like Joseph. Congrats on the find and images!
