Mayfly Orchid  Acianthus caudatus

This orchid grows near home, only know of one group, but I'm sure there are others around.  The leaf is a green, Heart shaped and ground hugging and the flowers are said variously  to have a musty or smell like rotting flesh giving another name of dead horse, but apparently only in warm weather.
The image is a 40 frame stack in Helicon focus.

Another "alien" - like creature : fascinating stuff, Chris, TFS.
Superb stacked detail and lovely subject isolation - that 90mm macro is paying off handsomely ;)

Out of this world. That’s so interesting. For such a stickly thing it’s quite colorful.
