The fog bank is closing in on Ano Nuevo island just at sunset...

I liked the strong contrast between the creamy red sky from the setting sun, and the island deep in darkness with the fog bank approaching. These waters are infamous for frequent sightings of great white sharks, feeding off of the elephant seal colony on the island and the nearby state beach.

Please hammer on & thanks for looking!

The contrasting layers are cool. I'd be tempted to crop some of the water off the bottom.

Beautiful image... I am tempted to agree with Ken on cropping the bottom some?

Lots of mood and a very interesting image..

Ken, thanks for this suggestion. I agree that this would improve the image.
Didn't see that until now. Thanks.

Unfortunately this is already cropped from vertical, so cropping more is really going to impact pixel count... In retrospect, it would have been better to shoot this horizontal with a longer lens.

Thanks!

Lovely moody image. 8) 8) 8) 8) :)

When I first looked at it I thought the island was a surfacing submarine!!
