Matthew, I like the combination of the purple, pink and green very much. I also like the overal composition of the image with the purples filling two nice places, but for my taste the purple flowers are just a bit too much OOF. A bit more of their shape might be nice, and if it would show just a bit more of the roses, that might be nice too. However, I'm not really a flowerguy, so opinions on these points may not be shared by many ;).

Cheers!
Arthur Sevestre

Lovely color combination and shallow DOF. I like the purple haze...

Hi all
Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Arthur your comments (even though you are not a flowery kind of guy  ) are very relevant and helpful. I knew when posting this shot that it would not appeal to all taste buds, and negative comments are as much appreciated as positive ones because that’s the way we learn. From my point of view I know this shot is a little bit of a failure, not because I don’t like it, but because it’s not a strong enough image colour-wise for its intended use. Regarding Mike’s comment, yep I understand exactly what you mean and thanks for pointing this out. Thanks to Tom and Lisa knowing the colour combination works in for this image is probably more helpful than you realise.

Thanks again all
And Best Regards
Matthew

Hi, matthew; I really see where you were heading at; the color combination is really good ; maybe it looks better with less purple on top, but I'm not really sure ; still, I like you're creativity here ; keep them comming!

Great ideas/thoughts/suggestions from others on this shot Matthew, but you know what, I think that it would be a whole different ballgame if the flowers were simply sitting a bit higher in the frame, with a touch more contrast than the purple color.
I like it just fine as is too!!

This is a different approach using a complimentary color as half the blur. There is some weird ghosting happening on the left upper part of the open blossom.

This is gorgeous and very Michael Brown-esque. I love it. Excellent work. It might work a little better if the left hand flower were more exposed. Just MHO.
Thanks for posting,
