Syrphid fly

A syrphid fly (Sphaerophoria) eating pollen on a Black-eyed Susan. The curious dark spot was visible on each side of the compound eye, no idea what it is.

Canon 7DMII, 180+2xTC, F11, tripod

Nice portrait and composition, Tom. I like it. The dark spots are called "pseudopupils"
