We were heading for the Sawmill Ponds in the early afternoon to check on the moose activity reported there (and after we had spent the morning there "moosing around"). I had just pulled the truck off the road into the parking area (such as it is) when this little doggie crosses the road, comes through the parking area, and heads down the trail towards the ponds. I just had time to grab the camera with the 100-300 and head down the trail after him. He stopped to turn his head and assure himself that I wasn't a threat and I took this image; then he proceeded on down the trail. I only got four or five images where his eyes are visible, and he was headed into rather harsh afternoon sunlight. Still, however, the experience was the main thing, and the rimlighting is a little different.

I like it David The rim lighting looks good and sure got lots of detail on the shaded side !!! Would consider cropping some from the left and bottom !!! Excellent image !!! 8) 8)

Harsh light but well handled David. Lovely natural shot and that look back and rim light really set this image off! 8) :D

Good job to catch this guy- having it turned toward you is a big plus, especially being able to see both eyes. 8)

I agree with Alfred on the crop suggestion.
