The bull on the left had managed to isolate a cow from the harem of the moose in the back ground. He had justed mated with the cow when the dominant bull arrived on the scene to run him off. (If you look between his legs you can see that he was ready to mount the cow again.)
He initially tried to hide behind the cow, but she headed for cover. A fight ensued and dominant bull quickly gained the advantage and ran off the interloper. The interloper, now well out of sight, let out a series of mournful groans. Apparently he wanted just a bit more time with the cow... 1D MII, 70-200/2.8 @ 70mm, ISO 500, 1/125, F 9, - 1 1/3 EV to hold detail in the antlers, tripod. Tim
