Taken today at Muscatatuck NWR. This small snake was hanging out in a tree next to the marsh. I had to stack 1.4 and 2x extenders to get a decent scale. Still cropped 50%. The first time in a while I wished I'd had a shorter lens.
It was pointed out to me by a summer student who is studying snakes! 1D2, 500 f4 IS, 1.4x II + 2x II, ISO400, 1/100 @ f8, tripod Here it is with some selective sharpening. The extension tube is an interesting idea. How much minimum focus could I expect? Dan Kaiser
