Great pose with the mouth open revealing teeth. The matching tones of the marten and the tree work really well with the snow.

Awesome shot and like Ron said "matching tones".. 2nd Pine Martin posted here this week. Great job on both who have had an
opportunity to photograph this unseen and elusive critter.

A fine image of this feisty little beauty Malcolm! So elusive and the attitude shown here is a real bonus. An excellent find and shot.

I love weasels, our Martens are only available if you are able to crawl through 10' of snow.  A quibble...these are American Martins, not really related to the Pine Marten of Eurasia.

A bit over a month ago I posted a question in the Photography Equipment Forum about the "new" Canon 100-400mm II and received what I could only describe as an overwhelmingly positive recommendation. The Pine Marten images I took a few days ago where the first use of that lense for me and all I can say is that it is an amazing lense. Thank you all for the comments on the image and the recommendations re the lense, especially E.J., Chas and Greg ... those 3 recommendations really made the decision easy.

Mike in O ... Everything I've read has these listed as follows: American Marten also called American Pine Marten or Pine Marten.
