Female puma on the hunt in Chile.  This cat is about 2 years old and has been observed since she was a kitten.  She went about her business as if we didn't even exist.  The shot looks menacing, but its a pretty healthy crop and she just happened to look my way as she walked down the slope.

Specs: Canon 5D Mk. III, 600mm f/4 IS
f/4
1/100sec
ISO 3200

Great pose and eye contact, and I like the composition. I'd like to see it a little bit darker, maybe 1/3 to 1/2 stop or so. What a great experience you had with all these puma!

Great pose -- at first glance I thought that it was a good thing your back wasn't turned or you might have been dinner, so I was relieved in reading the history of the shot. :)

It was awesome Cindy.  I never thought I would see one in the wild at all.  In my wildest dreams I never thought I would be deleting shots of wild pumas (mountain lion, cougar, whatever) because they are just not quite sharp enough.  I'm looking forward to going back in April!

Great pose and composition from low down. Could be a little darker? Steve

When you click on this to bring in the darker surround it really shows what a lovely image it is! A good illustration of the stealthy advance of this magnificent cat as it carefully picks its way through the rocky terrain. A great perspective and fine shot Jeff.

Hello Jeff,... Another capture , well done! It's forward motion with paw leading makes the image for me.

And I too would be anxious to return to that area! During your trip did you encounter many cats ?

Thanks for sharing!

Great image! Possibly a little more contrast would help but nicely seen and taken!
