Hi all,

A slightly different one from my normal, This is a single frame looking from near our hotel across to the mountains of Meili. which form the border between Yunnan & Tibet. These peaks are unclimbed after the one unsuccessful Japanese attempt when they all died. I posted a dawn version of this (from a different spot in the travel & Culture forum).

Quite a few stars up there!!

Your night shots are making me take notes. I might even have to stay up past 9:00 PM if you keep tempting me like this!

:-) this was 6:30am... China has only one time zone (insane) the further west you go, the sillier it gets. Sunrise at 8:30 in west Tibet!!

Beautiful photo Alister. The visual magnitude there must be at least a 8 . I am jealous of that dark sky.

You sure came away with a great collection of night images from this trip and this is no exception. You're motivating me to get a little more serious about it in the mountains near my home!

The D700 just shines in these types of situations. Another excellent night image.

I've been admiring this series and all your other shots from all your trips, Alister. Some of your treks are quite taxing but the shots you come away with have been well worth the effort.

I like this composition and the blue colors. This has a very peaceful feel to it. Nice work Alister.
