1D Mark II, Canon 500 f-4, x2 TC, 1/320, f-14, iso 320, manual exposure, bean bag from a car

Had a great time yesterday afternoon with one of my favorite species - the Pied Kingfisher. They are so interesting to watch and photograph!
It is very easy to distinguish between the sexes - the male on the right has two full bands on the chest while the female has only one which is not complete.
This was taken in Israel in a nature reserve called Maagan Michael.

Wonderful shot, Ofer! Two for the price of one... That 500/4 does really well with a 2x TC!!!

I visited Israel a year and a half ago and did not have the time to really do much of anything at the wildlife refuges. That means I've probably got to go again (it's a good excuse anyway)...

What a lovely pair ...
Beautifully captured, Ofer!

Were you in a hide/blind then?

Thanks for your comment KK! I managed to arrange things in such a way that I could use the car as a hide...

Very nice. One is hard to shoot, much less two in such a great pose, BG & perch.

Very well done Ofer. The composition is wonderful. The BG is great to. Really, the whole image is very nice. I cannot find even one nit. So I guess that makes this a perfect image. Well, not quite. If they both had fish in their bills, then it would be perfect. So you'll have to settle for a 9.9
