Was quite happy to get this yesterday.

Canon EOS 1D Mark II N + 400/5.6 + Tamron 1.4 TC.
1/2000s f/5.6 at 400.0mm iso500

Shot handheld with a Bushhawk. Almost full frame. Slight crop for composition.

Well done, Jody. I've never have tried to put a 1.4x on the straight 400 before, but will try given your results.
Enjoy viewing

VERY nice! I just rigged my Bushhawk for my 70-200mm f/2.8 VR and 2x TC this week. Can't wait to use it for some flight shots.

Great image, and tack sharp to boot. This is no easy bird to shoot in flight either. The extended wings make the image very compelling.

I am confused about the shot details though: you shot this with the 1.4X on the 400 f5.6 and had an aperature of f5.6 and a focal length of 400mm?

If I know Jody he was using his Canon 400mm f5.6 with the 1x4 extender. I think this would give him an f-stop in the 6.5 to 8 range, but I could be wrong. Its been very sunny around here latly an we are getting great light.

Could be jody is using the standard version 1.4x from Tamron? This TC doesn't has certain connections (pins) to the body, final result doesn't report correct focus length and aperture. Many use it on prosumer body to get AF capability, so am i.
