One of the areas that we try to get out too every year is Marble Island..it's located aprox 25 miles up the coast from us...It's a unique and very interesting place...the resting place of Captain James Knight and his crew, legendary for it's Inuit believe that it is the resting place of one of the past Elders who wished the ice turn to stone...and an all round geological event in that this island aprox 10 miles long and 2 miles wide pops up out of the ocean and is all white quartzite which gives it a white marble coloured look...there is no other mass formation of this kind of rock in the area...
