As soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew this was a Dave image!  The alert and curious pose of the two deer in the trees and bracken is beautifully captured and you have perfectly caught the early morning mood, light and colour tones of the cool, Autumn dawn.

I Love it!

Carol.

The 800 seems to work well and I like the alert poses and 3D effect, Dave.

What a great start for this lens. So sweet and so beautifully presented.

Thank you all. That 800 certainly makes life easier.

Could be that it's so lightweight; but one of the main reasons I like it other than the sharpness, is that it lets me work just a bit further away; therefore, providing a slight behaviour change and less stress on the subjects. It is also quite easy to HH, although it's sensible for the keeper rate to use support at low ss.

It's difficult to dislike anything about that lens John.  Lighter than my old 150-600 Sigma Sport.  Over 1kg lighter than my old 500 F4 and lighter than the 300 2.8.  Tack sharp and used in the right zone / subject to bg, a killer bg.

There may well be many times it's too long a reach, but nearly all the skittish deer I see and birds here, suit it perfectly.
