I'll be in Florida December for one week. Burrowing owls are one of my nemesis birds. Anyone know someplace where my chances are good?

December is a bit early for seeing many of the burrowing owls. The best time is starting in March. The only place that MAYBE might be a place to look is around the Cape Coral Public Library. That is where most nests are during the season, but like I said, December is really not the time.

Marco Island also has a number of locations with nests.  You could google to get maps with locations and probably an article about when is best to photograph.

Richard, I am not from Florida but I visited there a few years back and became aware of a fairly large group of Burrowing Owls that have nests in Brian Piccolo Park which is to the west and a bit south of Ft. Lauderdale.  I was there in the month of March and they were very accessible and cooperative in this park which is a sports complex.  As I've only been there twice I'm not sure if December is a good month.  From what I remember I was told that March - early June is best.   I would highly recommend this spot for the owls if you are close enough to visit the area.     Best,   Warren
