I need a remote control to advance my images on my Mac Air while projecting.  I used to use a windows laptop and my Kensington $30 remote worked fine, but no go on my Mac Air.  Anybody know of a good remote for Mac?

While at an Apple store the other day the tech guys suggested this remote. I've not tried it but it is cheap. Have on for Apple TV setup at home and will try on my Macbook Pro.

There is no really a remote for Mac. You have Remote for AppleTV which will do some things with Mac and you have Keynote app on iPhone.
You didn't say what application you want to use on your Mac.

Or you can use an Apple Magic Trackpad that is bluetooth wireless. Lets you stand up to 33 feet away. List cost $69. Agree with Andrew in wanting to know what app you plan to use. I installed an app called Remote Buddy Express that lets you use an I-phone as a remote but I found it not too functional - the small screen on I-phone makes the pointer on the mac too jumpy for me.

I use this on a MacBook Pro. Works great. Plug and play.

Mike, does it work with Yosemite?  Yosemite broke many legacy controllers.  My similar Targus controller no longer works with Yosemite.

EJ

I just plugged it into my MBPro (Late 2013) running Yosemite and it works fine.

Thanks for the tip on the Kensington remote, Mike.  I already have a different Kensington remote that does NOT work:  http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Wireless-Presenter-Laser-Pointer/dp/B000FPGP4U/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_y  It was $32 and it is slightly different from the one on your link which is $39.

First I am going to give my Apple TV remote a shot.  I forgot I had it.

Why not download HippoRemote and no hardware required other than your iPhone or iPad. Also, if you are using FotoMagico they have an iPhone/Pad controller called "FotoRemote". HippoRemote works very well. Must just be on the same network.

It dawned on me since I run both Windows with Breeze Browser via Bootcamp, plus iPhoto on the Apple side, I just switched sides on the Mac Air to Windows and then my old remote works fine, advancing the slideshow in Breeze Browser.

I've got a show coming up next Monday, April 27 for the Laguna Hills Camera Club up in Orange County for anybody interested in OC.  6:30.

I tried the remote for my Apple TV and it doesn't work in iPhoto.
