I have read with great interest thetopics on cold weather gear and Aurora lens needs lots of great information in the topics.

So now that we all have a good idea of how to dress up and take images of Aurora check the space weather reports. This week one of the largest sunspots ever has been recorded has appeared and  in the last day spewed off a large CME towards earth. So large the supply rocket that was to launch today for the ISS was delayed die to the possible impact of radiation. When the CME interacts with the earths magnetic fields we will see some great Aurora even in the lowee altitudes.

Dress up and enjoy

Start at spaceweather.com for forecast and info.

Thanks for the heads up. Don't check the spaceweather page as much now. I have a couple of dream shots which likely will never materialize but who knows. A deer or any wildlife up at that time of night with the northern lights in the background :-). I'll take a snowy landscape too.

I assume everyone who is interested in the Northern Lights is aware of what could be a nice light show in the next day or two. Let's hope it's not going to be another let down.

EJ even you may get a chance of a show...from spaceweather.com

..."Although the geomagnetic storm it provoked was technically only minor (G1-class), Northern Lights were observed as far south as Arizona. Chris Schur photographed the red glow of auroras peaking over the trees in the backyard of his home in Payson, AZ"...."This pink glow right under Ursa Major was visible to the naked eye before the moon came up," says Schur. "These were the first auroras here in Arizona since the previous solar maximum."

enjoy

I was going to post the same thing.  Arizona.  I checked spaceweather Canada and it is currently stormy in both auroral and sub-auroral.   Spaceweather.com servers must be very busy as it is not easy to get thru today.  Hoping for lights tonight.

Turns out the server was down.
