My analysis (seriously) is that:

1. We know Chas is "cool." If we didn't, the host reminded us a dozen times.
2. Chas made an excellent point about technology and photography. Photographers need to learn the basics of photography and not always rely on the automation in a $4,000 camera because the automation isn't always accurate/appropriate. It's a simple point but very apt.
3. Chas needs to let the gentle good ole' boy atmosphere of North Carolina rub off on him a little more. He was reeling off a slew of valuable photography insights in a New York minute, so fast I'm sure some of them just flew by us. I would love to see him do a techniques book or video because there's a lot of good knowledge to be shared. Just a little slower.
4. When photographing, Chas needs to disregard what I said above. I continue to be amazed at how the computer in his brain is able to instantly assess a shooting situation, come up with a game plan and execute it in a flash. The points he's making give us an insight into that assessment process and it's fantastic. Most of us see the good results but you really need to see Chas at work to appreciate the lightning quick assessment to execution process.

Took a listen this morning.. Dick, that is chas talking slow :)

I feel very fortunate that Chas was living on LI and that I found the NWPLI group that he was a part of when I first started out. Having the opportunity to spend time in the field with him and participating in the early tech series development was priceless !!

I'll say it again and again.. the STL Tech series is the best investment you can make as a foundation.

Very informative. Worth the listen. Learned more in the first two sentences then I have in a while. Got to try out the spot metering technique much more rigorously than I have been doing.
