This one was taken yesterday in the Dartmoor National Park, Devon, England. Dartmoor is famous for its granite "tors" - many of which dot the landscape. The tors are formed when the softer surrounding rocks erode - leaving these weathered granite caps on all the hills. Stunted hawthorns are also characteristic of the moor, so I was pleased to be able to incorporate both into this image. I had photographed the same scene at dawn, but decided to return at sunset to try for a shot with a little more atmosphere. The sun is shining through a small hole in the trunk of the tree and I used a small aperture to create a star burst.

Going back at sunset was a good move on your part Guy. This is a clever composition with unusual results. The placement of the sun and the small amount of sunlight in the foreground are a nice touch. (I like this as is, but I wonder if using a flash [on some frames] would have added anything to the image by opening up the detail in the tores. I'm just guessing here. Again, very nice as is.

Really beautiful. I love the detail you got on the ground without losing the sky.

Very nice. I agree with Bruno that the tree goes well with the clouds.

Nice work Guy.
Carol, I think both faces are pretty cool. The small one on the left looks more relaxed, I think he is asleep
