I'll be in the area after leaving Yellowstone the first week in October. Any suggestions appreciated. Love to get some chances at burrowing owls or anything else

I’ve always heard that Badlands National Park is good for Bighorn Sheep. They also have bison. Never been there, though.

Back in 2000, I had a great trip the first week in October for Pronghorn Antelope, Bison (even after round up), and prairie dogs in Custer State Park. Don't recall if the prairie dogs were in park boundaries but they were at least close.

Depending on where in North Dakota - that’s the time that the Snowys and Short-eared are around.
I-94 has many wildlife areas within easy reach as does Hwy2
Also good time for northern lights

Custer State Park SD is an excellent destination. Also Wind Cave National Park and the Badlands. Don't know if any of these offer opportunities for Burrowing Owls.
