Canon 10D 16-35L @ 16mm 1/350 F8 eval -1.5

I finally got back to my favorite Pelican spot, in decent light too.
There were about 85 Pelicans there, 70 in this shot, though some are pretty small in the frame :)

I didn't notice the closest Pelican had drifted partway out of the frame.
I could clone him out I suppose...

Cool! I like the way they're spread out across the whole river.

I guess Calgary's "drowning machine" doesn't hurt Pelicans, and may actually help them find food... Have you heard anything more about the proposed conversion of the weir to a rapid--to fulfill its current irrigation objectives but in a safer manner?

Other than the right most Pelican being clipped, this is truly excellent!

This is pretty neat. The dark clouds side light helps set the Pelicans up well.

I too would clone out the stray.

Where in the city is this located? on our way through this summer we would like to stop off and snap a few frames as well.

You can see it from the Deerfoot Trail, just south of Memorial Drive. It's just a short distance upstream from the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary.

The best access is from the parking lot at the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery/Pearce Estate Park. I don't recall the exact streets at the moment, but it's fairly close to Blackfoot/9th avenue.

I decided I liked the Pelican too much to clone him out, so I cloned him a new butt :)
