I just read that switching from firmware 1.02 to 1.04 changed the focus and micro adjustment needed to be  revisited.
I don't know if it makes sense.
E.J. Peiker would know the answer for sure.

No I don't because I haven't seen a camera with 1.04 but I am skeptical of the need to redo them since Canon does not indicate that any changes were made to the AF system, and even if there were changes, I would still be somewhat skeptical. Due to workshop and other out of town commitments, it is not likely I will see one for a couple of months.

Fred Miranda has some other anomalies that may happen with the FW upgrade.

The shifts in MA, especially the guy saying his MA changed during a game is most likely due to temperature.  As we are moving into summer,  My observation is that as temperature increases, MA value decreases, at least on the lenses I use.

I ended up checking the micro adjustment using the same program I used before the update. (FoCal)
The micro adjustment value remained the same after the update of the firmware.
(-3 before at 400 and -3 after the update)

Based on my experience it seems that most of us are safe with the update.
Although my wife says: "mine works perfect, why should I update".

Oh dear! I was just about to update my firmware but now I think I will wait, even though I do have a 70-200II.
E.J., be great if you could let us know here what you find when you do see one with the new firmware. Will I need to send everything back to you again for MAing when I update the firmware? That would really suck!

Thanks,

The lockups are a bit concerning but the change in MA value is not credible IMHO.

EJ and All,
I have a 7d2 with the new firmware...and will be on EJ's Iceland
workshop next week so he'll be able to evaluate it then. I followed Canon's
instructions in the download...however, waited to re-insert the battery for 30 seconds.
So far I haven't noticed any focusing issues with this body.

Keep us all posted, Tad and E.J.
Yeah, the lockups suck too.
