Zeiss-Sony 16-35 f/2.8 II - weather sealing and better flare control
Zeiss-Sony 24-70 f/2.8 II - weather sealing and better flare control (The originally was widely seen as one of the very best lenses in this range)
Sony 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 G

The original Minolta AF mount, now Sony A-mount isn't dead yet :)

I sure hope Sony doesn't get carried away with pricing the new lenses (generation 1 of the 70/200 2.8, I bought for $1800, now generation 2 of the lens is $3,000)

All of the Japanese manufacturers are going that route and with the weakness of the Yen relative to the dollar, they are really getting some incredible margins on products sold in the USA.

Look at Canon who nearly doubled prices from outgoing model to incoming model on their pro lenses or Nikon which is charging 75% more on recent pro replacements...  At least with Sony, you know it's going to be 25-33% cheaper within 6 months ;)

At least with Canon and Nikon the upgraded lenses have a new optical formula...as far as Sony goes, we get an upgraded SSM motor and nano coating. The 70/200 may have updated optics (hardly anyone owns it and those that have dropped the money swear it is better). Weather sealing is always welcome but the generation 1 were sealed but no claims were made.
