A couple of Zeiss lenses announced for E mount...as an aside, the day glow blue does clash a bit with the cinnamon orange of the Alpha.

To be clear, these are full frame E-mount or FE... :)
Here is the official Zeiss info:
http://blogs.zeiss.com/photo/en/?p=5313

The need for an ultra-wide angle remains unaddressed by either Zeiss or Sony.  We now have 5 lenses at the 35mm and 50mm focal length but nothing below 24mm, what's wrong with this picture?

To be even clearer...E mount is E mount and can be used on crop sensors, though it is made for full frame.  Heck it can even be used on your phone.  LOL  I hope Sony will address this in the coming announcements, but they are certainly neglectful of FF wide angles primes.  I don't own a FF E mount, but all the lens making of Sony seems to be going to it rather than A mount.

Leaks but still no official announcement. The leak announcement was made months ago and it was on the roadmap for release at the end of Q2 or beginning of Q3 but at this point there hasn't even been a prototype shown nor is there a patent on file. Vaporware at it's finest so far. I hope Photokina fixes that but since Sony takes several months for US release after the rest of the world on all of the FE lenses so far, I'm not holding my breath for 2014.

Note the picture on that leak is of the previously shown 28-135 FE Cinelens, there isn't even a picture of the 16-35 because none exists :(

Did you have the chance to test the EF 4/16-35L IS on the A7R with the adapter? For sure Canon has designed that lens in a way that it will work very well with a very high resolution full frame sensor like the one in the A7R or rhe D810 even if they haven't announced one yet.

No, I don't have a Canon adapter or certainly would have.

I don't understand why somebody should give up the AF of the excellent Sony/Zeiss 35 and 55 for these lenses which will not be cheaper

BTW, finally we have lenses with infinitely variable aperture (as all lenses should be IMHO)
