Hi All,

One of my guides Pablo Carvantes is picking up the Canon 500 Ef IS F4 AF lens, and already has the Canon 1.4x iii. Does this lens work fine with the newer extender, or should we look at picking up a mk ii instead?

Thanks,
Iain

Works fine with either.  There is a slight increase in sharpness with the VIII, but the vII is no slouch.  Not likely anyone could tell the difference.

Yep... works fine. There isn't really any benefit to this combo over using the Vii extender, but there is no disadvantage either. As Brad mentioned the viii is a little sharper... but not noticeably.

EF 500 f/4L IS works with the 1.4X-III. NO need to switch to 1.4X-II. In fact, tell Pablo to get the 2X-III which is MUCH better than the 2X-II for sharpness on this lens. Also, since he already has the 1.4X-III what lens was he using it on?? Just curious. I met him at Tandayapa this past winter, tell him I said hi.
