While a wheelbug sucks the life out of a honeybee victim, two soldier beetles go at it just inches away, bringing new life into the world. Philosophical, isn't it?
This was a very dark and windy day, and I had a number of failed attempts to get this shot. I'm pleased with how it came out, though. EOS 10D and 180mm lens (288mm effective FOV) 1/100th second @ f/11 ISO 400 Tripod mount macro flash combined with natural light Mike B. in OKlahoma
