A little beach on the South Devon coastpath with nothing more than a coastguard house and a small stream that runs to the sea. Simply not much there at all.

This was my second dawn shoot. I ran around like a lunatic trying to find a decent angle with a new 20-35mm f3.5-4.5 lens. The pool was about 2 foot long although the angle makes it look enourmous. I really made me feel great to be alive that morning. When I got the negs back I was extatic about this shot.

NOTE: I have since removed the chromatic arberration now I know what chromatic arberration is!

Despite the fact that the sky is made up of vapour trails I think their crisscross effect really adds to it, almost like a fireball streak (almost?!)

EDITED: EOS 5, 20-35mm f3.5-4.5 lens @ f22(?) for about 8 secs, a 0.6 Hitech ND grad on the wobbliest tripod known to man.

Thanks for looking.

Wow - really gorgeous - just a slight bit of barrel distortion visible that I'd be tempted to correct.

The lighting here is fantastic! I love that foreground! This image could make it on that alone.

David,

Awesome image, great colors, compo, and reflection. When things work out sunrise shots are great, I love doing them. I don't know if it's the barrel distortion mentioned, but the only nit is it could use a slight cw rotation to level the horizon.

Just for the record, the horizon is absolutely straight. What everyone is seeing is the dark coastline to the left starting to sweep towards you. This is making people think there is distortion. Chuck it into photoshop and have a look.
