Super (blue) Moon

D850, 300f/4, 1/50, f 5.6, ISO 31

Woke up at 4:30 AM Sept. 1 and saw this shining in my window. Stumbled downstairs, grabbed my camera and braced it on a post on my porch-no time for tripods. This was a rare moon. So very bright, I had to dial down exposure compensation. Just got lucky , I guess. Also got some more "artistic" photos, but I like this one with it's naval showing.

Doesn't look as sharp at this resolution...Click for a bit better.

Nicely done Cindy! Its called a blue moon because its the second supermoon in the same month. Now you've got the taste for it, the next and final supermoon of the year will be on 29th September, that is called the Harvest Moon, and if you can get that one it should glow red - particularly if you can see it when it has just risen over the horizon.

Thanks Carol. I'll try to look for it. We don't have much open space to see the moon at all....unless I go somewhere else in the middle of the night.
