It is a very nice classic shot in an area that I know very well :) The black and white treatment chosen does not show off this scene as well as it could in my opinion. East Mitten has virtually no tonal separation from the sky and the thumb on it is nearly blended into the sky and hard to see. By choosing more of the yellow channel in your post processing or applying a yellow filter if this is a film shot would darken the blue sky somewhat and lighten the mittens a bit creating that tonal separation without making it overly contrasty. I think an orange or red filter would probably lighten the buttes too much and make it too contrasty but yellow I think would really work well in this situation.

The comp is lovely - the width really helps to give that feeling of space. For me the BW processing is letting the image down. Clouds should be soft and fluffy, not sharp and contrasty. I feel the processing has taken over in this one and it is not sympathetic to the scene at all. Sorry to be a downer!

Quite nice, really like the composition, light and tones.

I like the high contrast on the left mitten and the long shadows.

I like it, but I have to agree that the sharp clouds take away from the mittens.
