A drone crashed in Yellowstone and now a New Mexico National Monument (Bandelier) also banned use of drones within the park boundaries, partially based on the Yellowstone crash:

I am sure it is the NRA behind this travesty...if only our citizens were free. If it doesn't bleed is it hunting?

It was inevitable - both the crash and the subsequent ban.

While 'drones' provide a unique perspective, especially in an area that is not otherwise accessible (flying over the Niagara falls), it loses the 'wow' factor soon, at least for me. Once you've seen a few videos of the same location, it is not that exciting any more.

Then there is the issue of privacy, noise, personal safety. I am sure drones will be banned in all public places in the near future. They are still amazing devices but need to be used and handled carefully.

Enough is enough.
If and when electronic devices are publicly available to render hobbyist drones inoperable midair, I will use them.

Just to clarify, the ban at National Parks was already in place at the time of the crash:

http://home.nps.gov/news/release.htm?id=1601

And there was really a deadline already for the banning of drones in National Monuments:

There has been concern for a long time about foreign objects being thrown into the pool because the chemical reaction may be changing the colors of Grand Prismatic. Coins being the primary culprit.
