Paradise, California-Another of the common suet feeder birds but always fun to photograph.
Canon 7D, 500mm, ISO 800, f6.3 @ 1/320.  No cropping.

Nice species, nice pose captured, Dean. A vertical cut it more common with woodpeckers.

Great angle and eye contact. I could also see this as a vertical crop and maybe a bit more contrast.

I agree with you , these are way too much fun to photograph, nice details. Yes, I think a vertical format would work also.

Beautiful bird and perfect pose. Your lucky to have them as a common woodpecker species. So striking.I could see bumping up the contrast a tad here if was processing it. Cheers
