I was surprised to read that this species was 'blue listed'(of special concern) in B.C.
It seems every time i head up a mountain, here on Vancouver island, these guys can be heard calling. This is a great thing to hear and and even better thing to see/photograph. Their call can be very deceiving and for that reason they are hard to locate.  However this bird was very conspicuous, in the middle of the trail displaying while i was hiking in the Strathcona park.

Mike, super pose and wonderful low angle POV - I really like the way the BG melts off, yet still giving a hint of environment.
