A Summer Tanager taken Sunday at Bosque del Apache. The bird life is totally different in summer at Bosque. This is one of the most intensely colored birds I have seen in NM. It is brighter than a Cardinal and, when it flies, it glows in the air.

Such a wonderful colour Joe, I'll bet they do glow in the air!

You captured this brilliant bird nicely. The grey smooth background allows the colors to stand out even more.

This is very well presented. The red would blow out easily. The grey background certainly helps to highlight the bird.

Joe, this is a wonderful bird, but I feel like loosening up the crop would really help this image

Striking color helped by the neutral background

What a beauty, that is some bright red. As mentioned, a little to tight of a crop, however sometimes they perch where we don't want them to and we take the shot however close they may be.
