I find the background highlights distracting, but the back/rim light on the duckling is lovely!

I must agree with Carol's comment regarding the highlights....it also needs more room at the back.....rim-lighting is excellent thought.

Thanks for the comments! I like the background highlights, I think it gives some plus to the photo.  Unfortunately there isn't any more space on the left side of the original frame.

The image works well for me. I like the glinting dust in the plane of focus in front of the bird too.

I really like the use of the backlight as it adds drama to what would be an ordinary shot. Very interesting.
