I was photographing a White-throated Kingfisher when it dived into long grass and came up with a lizard. After a quick bash the lizard was tossed and then the kingfisher flew to an adjacent tree.

A friend of mine and an expert in the realm of lizards identified the lizard as a Six Lined Long-tailed Grass Lizard. It has a regenerating tail as the normal tail is 5 times longer than the body.

Stellar image! Love how there is no overlap between beak and lizard and how the lines formed by the lizard's body are parallel to the lines of the beak. Just awesome.

Excellent shot Graeme, great timing to catch mid toss like that. I always found these birds very skittish when trying to photograph them.

Super shot. I would be looking into entering some competitions with that shot. Award winner IMO.
