More likely grab and smash as the frog will be beaten when the Kingfisher lands

I had a pair of cooperative White-throated Kingfishers last year but this year only slim pickings. These Kingfishers frequent broken forest, canal edges and near shorelines.

This location was some distance from water but after heavy overnight rain puddles form and the frogs gravitate to the moisture and the Kingfishers take advantage.
They have a favourite tree perch and I line the puddles up to get the direction of the sun and a distant background correctly aligned.

Great pose, the catch and featured bg all come nicely together in this shot, Graeme!
I see that even at 1/4000 there is still a trace of motion blur especially the body and wings ...
