The advantages of being extremely tall become major disadvantages when it comes time to sip some water. There are no waterfalls to lap at in the African bush so getting down to the water is the only answer. Interestingly the small dark object in the spraying water is an oxpecker in flight; I assume its presence there was pure chance and not intended.
(I also did not intend to clip the feet but I liked the rest of the image so I elected to post it anyway.)
Canon 1DMkII, Canon 400/2.8 + 2.0 TC on a beanbag. ISO 400, 1/400 @ f/7.1 in ambient light. Essentially full frame, cropped slightly during rotation. All comments, suggestions most welcome.

Nice Action shot, but I'd have prefered that the legs weren't cropped off.

Great catch of the action. I just wish there was more room at the bottom, maybe showing the water source.

COOL! Love the water and it's bizarre that the oxpecker got sprayed! It's always hard to get all of a giraffe in a shot. Maybe go with an even tighter crop of the giraffe (such as at the neck) to make it look intentional!

I think this is a good behaviour shot. I think the bird adds a lot of interest as it looks like the bird is flying up the stream of water. Almost like it is "surfing" up the water.

I would prefer a different crop than this as I find the missing feet a bit distracting.

I think this would be an excellent image with the feet included or much tighter around the giraffes head and the plant.

Too bad about the feet but it's a nice behavior shot. The oxpecker caught in the water is great!

Nice light and great to catch it in the middle of drinking. I also think a tighter crop might be worth looking at. :)

The light and capture of the water spray are great! - if only you had got the feet in - and the water surface, this would be in another league! 8) :D
