Mark2 Sigma 500 4.5 with 2x Manual Focus Full frame...
before I went to Alaska, without mention to anyone, I had pre-visioned the one shot that that would be the killer shot ...no pun intended  ...for my collection of bear shots...The one eye shot.! When our group was only four (guide and 3 other photographers) we had the opportunity to slowly approach this bear along the side of the creek...she was resting comfortably and just watching for the last salmon of the season to run by...as we approached ever so slowly and resting as we did I put the 2x on and started to slip the occasional shot with her head down and at rest...after we sat for about 10 minutes she got up and turned towards us a bit...and then turned and strolled away as quietly as ever....WOW what a thrill. Now this may not be for every one and be assured that not everyone should or // can approach a Brown Bear to this close of a distance. (25-30 feet) we had a very good guide our group was small and the time of the fish run was almost over.. this all added to the calmness of the bears and some of the unique images now in my files. Thanks for looking comments always welcome. The McLarty's :)
