needs no introduction, Knight Inlet, BC, Canada, Aug 2005, 1Dmk2 + 500/4L, handheld from boat

The knight inlet is probably not the best place in the world to shoot grizzlies. Surely not when I see all these excellent shots from Alaska. One morning we were lucky enough with the light still being OK when the fog lifted.

This mother and cub were strolling along the river in the grass. No fishing this time unfortunately. Well I like this any way.

ANY comments are welcome, as always.

Beautiful setting! Seeing a grizzly anywhere is a thrill, and I love the pose the little guy is doing here for you. I'm partial to 'bears in grass' type of images ... so I really like this one.

Sounds like you had a great trip!

The little one standing up and checking you out is really cute. Bears in long grass always look good and this a nice combination of animal and habitat. 8)

In most places in Alaska, this would be a typical "close" shot. In a few places the bears are concentrated into a small area to catch salmon so they are concerned about bigger and/or meaner bears and getting a meal. Humans are in the distraction category. Plus we have lots of bears, which also really helps. :D

Very nice!

I like the clean background.

My only nit about this is that I think more room on the left side instead of the right and a little less foreground would make this a stronger image.

It's a fine image as is though...congrats!

Very nice shot. A little less foreground would be better for my taste. :D

Love the head turn of the mother towards her cub, and the little one standing up to look! Nice shot Peter and thanks for sharing it. 8) :D

Very cute shot. I really like all the tall grasses and the standing cub is adorable.

Thanks guys.

This shot is full frame, so I have room to play with the FG. I'll have a look. At this point I like the bears being inthe middle of the green.

Cheers
