This is a shot of a Grizzled tree kangaroo (Dendrolagus inustus), the second species of tree kangaroo found in the Arfak Mountains of West Papua Province, Indonesia. The grizzled is considered to be one of the more "primitive" species of tree kangaroos, because it is less adapted for arboreal life than other species. It occurs at lower altitudes than the Vogelkop tree kangaroos, and has a wider geographic range, with populations extending from the Vogelkop Peninsula eastward to North Coastal Papua New Guinea. This individual was photographed at an altitude of about 1200 meters asl.
