The fabled Seoni Wolf Pack of Rudyard Kipling's Jungle book..... their kin are in a hunting mood. In the blistering heat of a Central Indian summer. This pack has zeroed in on a herd of Nilgais or Blue Bulls across an almost dried up lake bed and are positioning themselves for the hunt. The actual hunt went on beyond the reach of my camera. The palpable heat can almost be felt in the burnt out colours of this frame as I crouched under the shade of a thorny tree..

Thanks Mike. The scientific name is Canis Lupus Pallipes and is a subspecies of the Grey Wolf.

Thanks Nilanjan. This is outside the borders of National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries near a village at a place around Nagpur.

No wonder their coat is so short in that heat, this makes them look so different from the colder climate wolves! Thanks for showing us Pralay.
