Hi all

I remember a few years ago several of you mentioning this classic book on making masks on photoshop. If I remember correctly the author was a women.
I tried without success to look for that topic, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know what am I talking about? Different suggestions on books just about doing masks are also welcome...

Thanks in advance

Yes, Katrin Eismann's book is the one...

Eismann is quite an amazing woman. I did one of her courses at the School of Visual Arts in NYC in 2001 on 'Photoshop Retouching and Restoration' (which is what got me hooked on to digital imaging). It was well worth it. At the time there were few resources if any - Scott Kelby had only just started his Photoshop Empire.

It is still one of the best books out there.

You may want to check if the last edition of her book cover what's in the latest version of the Photoshop (if that's what you use). Good, detailed book on selection and compositing nonetheless.

Or you can try Topaz Remask ( a plug-in not a book).

Over the last few years I have stopped buying 'how to' books unless they cover an area not done online. I have used lynda.com extensively and it is the best resource for learning pretty much any piece of software. There is a several hour long section on masking by Deke McClelland that is incredibly detailed. There are many other tutorials on the same topic covering different versions of photoshop by other experts that are quite good.

Then there are umpteen videos on youtube on the same topic but I found the lynda tutorials so much better. Books still have their place though and I think manuals and such are still quite useful.
