Osprey by Boat - Vero Beach, Florida with Nikhil Bahl - April 2016

Osprey by Boat

Vero Beach, Florida

Copyright Nikhil Bahl

Join Nikhil Bahl for 3 days of action-packed photography in Vero Beach, Florida. Each year over 240 nesting pairs of osprey, many at eye level, have been counted on Blue Cypress Lake. The shore line of the lake is lined with beautiful cypress trees in which the osprey build their nests each year. The lake itself is approximately 6,500 acres and creates a large territory for the osprey and other wildlife. The adjacent canal system, along with shallow waters nearby, ensure a reliable and plentiful food supply throughout the season. We will be able to capture a variety of images including up close and in-flight as well as beautiful environmental shots and early morning sunrise and late evening sunsets which are definitely on the schedule!

We have reserved the most coveted dates at peak chick brooding and nesting season and arranged for two 3-hour exclusive boat tours each day. This will provide close access at the peak of action. Osprey actively nesting, chick brooding and feeding, and flying in and out of nests at close range are all virtually guaranteed. Nikhil will share the secrets of taking control of an active situation and how to best capture these magnificent birds in all their glory.

We will be photographing from very stable, modified pontoon boats with licensed expert captains intimately familiar with the lake. There will be a strict limit of 4 participants per boat to allow comfort and ample space for our gear.

Testimonials
The opportunities to improve my photographic skills in the field were nothing short of mind-boggling. This workshop had everything I could have wished for and more: expert leadership, an experienced boatman, excellent trip companions, and stunning sightings and weather.

Osprey by Boat - Vero Beach, Florida
I most enjoyed the pristine environment of Blue Cypress Lake and the profusion of ospreys operating in their natural habitat. Also, access by an expert pontoon boat captain (Roxy, and she was terrific) was essential. Nikhil and Roxy worked together seamlessly to provide an abundance of outstanding venues. Best ever for me and I will return.
