Alan and Greg’s bird photography workshop is specially designed to focus on individual bird species and working the situation to capture the absolute best image of that bird. Greg and Alan will share their secret bird photography tips with you while demonstrating how to control the situation for each species. The best part is, you’ll be able to apply your newly learned techniques wherever you photograph birds around the world.

With a limit of just five photographers per instructor, this bird photography workshop ensures that each participant will receive personal attention from Alan and Greg.

Laguna Seca Ranch

Photograph the Gems of the Rio Grande Valley

Family owned and operated, Laguna Seca Ranch is located just north of Edinburg, Texas, USA. The ranch owner feeds the birds daily year-round making bird activity very busy at many blinds. In our experience, Laguna Seca Ranch is the best location in South Texas to see and photography some of the gems of the Rio Grande Valley including Audubon’s oriole, olive sparrow, long-billed thrasher, golden-fronted woodpecker, green jay, and many others.

Start of Workshop

The evening before the workshop begins we will meet at our host hotel for a pre-workshop gathering. We will all meet each other and go over details for the upcoming days.

4 Days of Powerful Photography and Instruction

After our gathering the evening before the workshop begins, 4 days of focused photography and instruction await. Each day we will enjoy a midday break, heading into the local city of Edinburg to have lunch and rest a bit before we go back out for the afternoon session. All workshop participants will have the opportunity to spend equal time one-on-one with both Alan and Greg.

Alan Murphy

Alan Murphy, an award winning photographer, grew up in England and is an avid birder. Upon immigrating to the States Alan picked up a camera and began pursuing his vision of how birds should be photographed. Alan has developed a style that is very recognizable with stunning portraits of birds on beautiful perches.
