Excellent image, Malcolm. It appears that your recent quest for GGO images, was very successful!( Amherst or Wolfe Islands, perhaps).

A terrific shot- love that it is sitting on a birch stump in the snow. Such clarity in the owl!

Great One, Will be interested in seeing more photos with the R1 and your opinion about the camera. Excellent image, but the crop you chose is what stands out to me.

Hey Gene.  Thank you so much.  So far I am loving the R1, the AF is from another planet, I like the eye control AF, the ISO performance is fabulous and the frame rate is insane.  Do I wish it was 30mps rather than 24mps .. yes but it really isn't a big deal for me.  Every camera and lense choice involves a compromise as does every shutter speed and aperture setting so if the lower resolution gives me the attributes I really want then I'm happy.  I wish I were down at Laguna Seca this Spring to really have some fun but that's not in the cards.  Thanks for noticing the crop.  I was quite deliberate in where I stood for that image, looking past the bird to the environment and then cropping it to reinforce the framing I imagined and wanted.
