Taken a few years back from my kayak out in the Strait of Juan de Fuca off Sheringham Point. Some years we get none in the straits, and other years they can be abundant.  Basically, they follow where the food is.

I'm a big fan of tubenoses, the pose with raised wing, low angle and calm water makes it special.

Tim, Like how the blue skies and water are so closely matched. Excellent wing position.

The same is happening with me Cynthia.  I haven't been out in my kayak doing photography for years.  It is a very unique and exciting experience to get close to pelagic species like this, at eye level.  Most people only ever see them from a larger fishing or touring boat, and not nearly this close.
